RATIONALE:


It is important for students at the secondary level to understand the benefits of improved individual fitness and its impact on lifetime skills and activities. This unit focuses on educating students how to organize and develop personal physical activity programs based on their current level of fitness, as well as individual preferences. The goal of this unit is to allow students to gain the cognitive, affective and life skills necessary to take responsibility for their own fitness level. Students will gain knowledge of the components of health and skill related fitness by evaluating their personal fitness through fitness testing. Students will understand the importance of beginning a wellness program now and continuing it throughout their lifetime.
